"Friends of P," the classic Rentals song covered by the fine young men from Toronto known as Tokyo Police Club, exemplifies what Weezer lost when they lost Matt Sharp. In the wake of the travesty of The Red Album, it's nice to see what once was with this cheery, happy, but also smart song, with an equally smart band covering it. TPC has played the song live before, but here's the first known studio recording, used to help support Lou Gehrig's disease research (if any indie rock band could write a song to help cure Chien-Ming Wang's foot, that'd be great too).
