Todd Rundgren: "I Saw The Light" f. The Roots (Live On Fallon) (Video)

Todd Rundgren dipped into his back catalog on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (Feb. 1) to perform a version of the classic track “I Saw the Light” from the 1972 record Something/Anything? This song was a big-ish hit back in the day, reaching no. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it’s not hard to see why here. Rundgren’s pitch perfect '60s pop homage hasn’t aged a day since that release, and the Roots provide suitable backing for him, especially via the falsetto of “Captain” Kirk Douglas. Head over to Fallon’s website for a further collaboration between Rundgren and the band on his track “Couldn’t I Just Tell You,” which also originally appeared on Something/Anything?

i love this performance! times like this that i get over my nostalgia for the original roots line-up and appreciate the many talents of latter-day members like douglas. btw, do the music guests usually play the show's closing theme? i think this is the first time i've seen one do it.
