Montreal based electro-drone artist Tim Hecker has his Ravedeath, 1972 album due for release imminently—it will appear on Kranky on Feb. 14. The album could serve as the perfect Valentine’s Day present for that fan of resolutely downcast ambient fractals in your life (hey, we all have at least one of those, right?) but in the meantime here’s a video for one of its standout tracks, “The Piano Drop.” This clip was assembled by some fans of Hecker’s work, but has been officially sanctioned by him. It pairs his song with a vintage film titled The First MIT Baker House Piano Drop (1972). The footage was also used as a photograph on the cover of Ravedeath, 1972 (see below), making for a perfect match of visual and aural stimuli.
