The most entertaining part of this song is how easy it is to visualize the video. Open on a Cory Haim-type figure alone on a stage, wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses. He taps his foot in an exaggerated fashion while bathed in a lone spotlight. When the verse begins he sings while looking wistfully away from the camera, but at the chorus he turns directly to the camera and holds out a hand, palm down and quivering. Repeat, but during the keyboard breakdown he'll pursue a woman through an abandoned warehouse. Man, I hope they never make an actual video for this because, like a movie of a book you like, it will never match what's in my head.
"Fake Gold" is the first single from Tigercity's first full-length album Ancient Lover, to be self-released this fall. [Stereogum]
