Just look at the charts and you can see that music has really gone downhill over these past ten years, especially in the rhythmic urban/pop category. Talent is no longer the main thing we look for or want in the industry these days. I do like the T.I. song, but it's one of the very few rhythmic top 40/urban songs I like. There was a time (just three/four years back) I was all over hip hop, but now it's just all become ridiculous, and no wonder so many people are changing their sound and trying to go to dance music, r&b or something else. You see how the next generation always talks about each previous decade of music, such as the 80's and the 90's sound. Well, this decade will be the worst by far when we look back. I'm kind of glad I was born in 1980 instead of 1990 because..... I probably would have never gotten into music if I was 13, 14, or 17 if it was today's hits I grew up with. And toobad, due to the super strict rules radio has these days, they are forced to play the same crap over and over and brainwash these kids to believe this is what music should be. What happened to the days radio was all about the people? What happened to the days when good music actually dominated the charts? It's all about money now, not talent.. Anyway, but I like T.I. in this song though. He's been coming with better beats and rhythmic sounds these past few years. This should dominate rhythmic and top 40 radio soon, and even urban format radio. Hip hop better change again quick because what's going on now just isn't doing it. I see pop and r&b taking over again.. which is what's happening now. I don't know about booty bass, but I see dance, house, and electronica coming back too. The people making music today also know that hip hop today really sucks, but they also know that this formula is what works today, and that is what they must do to make money, so.... it's hard to blame anyone in particular for what has happened to the music these days.
Lastly, people should start calling their local stations and requesting that we appreciate and preach good music rahter than just requesting the same old crap because those songs everyone keep requesting is already programmed to play at a certain time, multiple times a day, anyway. People need to use their brains to think instead of having MTV, radio, and everyone else tell them what they like or what's "cool".
