It hasn't been mentioned much, but getting a prison sentence is probably the best thing that happened to T.I. career-wise. He was always hotly tipped in the hip-hop world, but as far as pop radio was concerned, he was sort of lumped in with a league of southern rappers who followed in Ludacris's wake. Now that he's in prison, his albums are moving a lot of copies and now he's got a personal story-arc that is more interesting than Slim Thug or Mike Jones's.

Prior to going into prison, T.I. kept up a furious recording pace, cutting new tracks like "Slide Show," a treacly song looking back at T.I.'s life, for a proposed re-release of Paper Trail. It turns out that the re-release isn't going to happen, but the new songs T.I. recorded are all getting the video treatment and will be released digitally soon.
