With a beat that sounds like a broken sample of Missy Elliott's "Lose Control," "Lay Me Down" is the newest single from T.I.'s No Mercy. You may remember that the Atlanta rapper is still behind bars, so it's not entirely clear when this video was shot, but it features some pretty generic shots of T.I. rapping in front of tacky gold wallpaper and then some half-dressed ladies on a bed. Really, it could just be a collection of B-roll footage from any of the videos he's done over the years.
It would be fair to say that the guy is just getting tired, if only he could afford to stop caring. Instead, his largest professional flaw is his inability to not break the law, so hip hop perpetually comes second to his time in court or a jail cell. Lil' Wayne has proven himself able to transform that personal trouble into pop gold, but that ability still eludes T.I. Until he masters it, we're stuck with these half-hearted sex brags.
No Mercy is out now.
This is awful.
still a big t.i. fan, but this statement is dead on:
"...collection of B-roll footage from any of the videos he's done over the years."
