While at Fox Theatre in Oakland earlier this week, Thom Yorke and his Atoms for Peace played a full set followed by a pair of encores. In that second encore, they came out and performed a faithful take of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." Thom Yorke does a pretty good Ian Curtis, and his band does a pretty good the rest of the dudes in Joy Division. The sound is sort of sketchy, but it gives you a good idea of what to expect at this weekend's Coachella. Nice light show, too. [Stereogum]
damn, I really hope a better audio version pops up @ some point,, also is it just me or did their light show already slightly resemble the unknown pleasures album cover?
yeah it did. But remember, Love Will Tear Us Apart isn't on Unknown Pleasures. It's just a single.
I'm aware,,, just saying they were both Joy Div shout-outs...
that was pretty awesome. would love to hear it with better audio
I was there that night and the whole show was out of this world. When they came out for this second encore after people refused to leave, the crowd went absolutely berserk. I think this is a better version of the song (in my opinion at least) taken by the lovely fan who stood next to me.
