Thom Yorke: "All for the Best" (Audio)

This new track from Thom Yorke comes from Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy, an album prompted by the death of Mark Mulcahy's wife, which left him alone to raise their three-year-old twins. "All for the Best" is from Mulcahy's time in Miracle Legion, and Yorke keeps the guitar solo while adding jittery and slightly unnerving percussion. If the original finds its melancholic redemption in driving guitars and drums, Yorke's cover finds it in trembling background vocals over electronic distortion, but the redemption remains, as befits the purpose of this album.
