"Hologram," from These New Puritans sophomore album Hidden is already kind of a weird song- packed full of bassoons, pianos, and whatever instruments the quartet could seemingly get their hands on. Leave it to Michigan-based electro-gloomers Salem to make the song even weirder. The trio doesn't alter the song as much as it completely takes it over, dropping one of their signature dirty south beats, an entire wall of synth parts, and of course, a healthy serving of chopped and screwed vocals. Much like their recent single "King Night," there's a strange element of tenderness to the whole thing. Give it a listen below.
The "Hologram" single is due out on Domino on Aug. 9, and Salem's debut album King Night is scheduled to drop on Sept. 28 via IAMSOUND.
