New York City rapper Theophilus London has made splashes in the blogosphere over the past year or two with his electro-infused hip-hop. In particular, he dropped two solid mixtapes in JAM! and This Charming Mixtape, with the latter being an obvious nod to the Smiths. As you can probably deduce, London's music doesn't exactly fit inside the genre lines. And his latest single, "Humdrum Town," follows that lead. It features a backdrop of indie-rock drums and synthesizers as he rhymes with a heavy mid-2000s Kanye West-influence. And it all makes for a promising, catchy little tune. If only the video for "Humdrum Town" stayed interesting -- it gets a bit too cliche toward the end.
