Themselves, a duo comprised of Anticon rappers Jel and Doseone, will soon release a free mixtape entitled FreeHoudini. And though there is no release date yet for it, the guys are sharing a pretty sizable preview of the tape with us now. The excerpt, available for download at Pitchfork, features fifteen minutes of music and lots of guest appearances from the likes of Aesop Rock, Busdriver, WHY? and cLOUDEAD. It's what you'd expect from Anticon artists, a nice mix of hip-hop beats and electronic influences, moving between the stripped-down and grimy to a more built-up club sound. Lyrically though, even with Themselves' speedy delivery and undeniable energy, the duo often gets shown up by their guests, particularly on typically eccentric and great verses by Aesop Rock and Busdriver.
White kis are gonna love this! Thanks guys for saving us from non-avant-garde indie hip-hop.

Aw man I don't know about Aesop Rock or Busdriver outshining Dose on this.
keishi yamada
Yeah. Doseone being outshined is completely inaccurate.
