The xx: "Islands" (Live on Fallon) (Video)

The xx showed up on Jimmy Fallon’s show on Wednesday night (March 17), where they performed “Islands” from last year’s highly acclaimed debut album. The band members were en route to SXSW, where they will perform some of their first North American shows as a three-piece.

Sadly, the Roots didn’t join the group for this version of the song, although the sound is so sparse that it’s difficult to see where they would fit. It’s a beautiful take on the track, and the band even decked out Fallon’s “band bench” crowd in “x” branded T-shirts to make up for the fact that there’s not a whole lot you can do but stand and gawp while they play.
