KCRW presents a rare chance to see The xx in the studio with this clip of “Crystalised,” which was shot during the band’s visit to SXSW last week. It’s a low-key performance, with the band looking somewhat bedraggled from the constant touring and promo work undertaken to promote last year’s eponymous debut album.
The sound is even more striped down now that guitarist Baria Qureshi has left the band, but the core components are still intact—and the highlight here is the delicate interplay between vocalists Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft, with the latter sporting a pair of Jarvis Cocker-esque glasses for this performance.
they do look a little tired, but still pretty awesome.
