The xx have been hawking their songs out to TV shows recently—Cold Case, Law & Order, Grey’s Anatomy, Lie to Me and even 90210 are among the many shows that have used tracks by the band, although it’s difficult to see how their doom-laden sounds would work on the latter. Perhaps it was to soundtrack a deeply painful breakup scene?
Anyway, as we pointed out yesterday, Pitchfork’s Surveillance series is a much more appropriate setting for The xx, and here they perform one of the standout tracks from that eponymous debut album, “Basic Space.” Among the many highlights of the band’s forthcoming activities is a date on the Matt Groening-curated incarnation of ATP. Perhaps a Simpsons appearance is next on the agenda?

Another nice video.
Excellent remix at the end. Just me or are the voices deeper?
