There’s a sixth album by The Walkmen titled Lisbon due out on Fat Possum on Sept. 14, and the band offered a glimpse of it on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (Aug. 12). “Angela Surf City” will be the second track on the record when it comes out, and it’s a sparse, awkwardly structured rock song that fits comfortably with the rest of the group’s material.
The Walkmen have never really managed to shack of “The Rat,” that monolithic single from Bows + Arrows that remains the one song that everyone knows by them. This may not be the track to shake that off, but it is a well constructed, skeletally framed rock number that bodes well for the upcoming album for anyone who has already fallen under their spell.
