For artists like Connecticut's the Stepkids, what they bring to a live show is as important -- if not more important -- than what they bring to a studio session. Proving that point is the fact that they travel with a dude who apparently only focuses on the projections and lights seen during the trio's concerts. And his work with the band is particularly prominent here for the Stepkids' own episode in the Wilcox Sessions, which showcases live music and video. The track they play in the above video, "Santos & Ken," stems from their forthcoming self-titled debut and further displays their ability to blur the lines between soul, punk, funk, and jazz.
The Stepkids drops Sept. 27 on Stones Throw.
