The promotional push behind one of the year's best hip-hop albums to date continues with the above visuals. "The Fire," which I personally found to be one of the weaker tracks on How I Got Over, finds The Roots teaming up with crooner John Legend to deliver a message of inspiration. And they enlisted the directorial assistance of hip-hop video regular Rik Cordero to create some epic, engrossing, and sometimes violent visuals to accompany "The Fire."
This mini-movie tells the story of a post-apocalyptic death march during World War II in 1945. Oh, and that white box you see at the beginning? It apparently holds the key to survival, according to Cordero. It's safe to say this wasn't what I was expecting to see from this track, but it certainly catches your eye. And is it just me or have there been some damn good "epic" videos this year?
How I Got Over is in stores now.
