I'm fairly certain it's well established that The Roots are the best live hip-hop act. Beyond their ability to emulate other rappers' songs and keeping the crowd engaged, they impress with an immense knack for showmanship and onstage timing. And at this year's Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Philly crew played a three-song medley that included favorites "Thought @ Work" and "Here I Come," the former being a chance for MC Black Thought to showcase his absurd breath control. The third song was the title-track off their upcoming How I Got Over LP, which is slated for release later this year. While "How I Got Over" takes on a much more somber tone in the studio version, it hits James Brown levels of funkiness when performed live. Here's hoping we get a live version when the LP finally drops.
