The Roots: "Doin It Again" f. John Legend

For the previous leak and first single from their upcoming How I Got Over LP, The Roots re-appropriated Monster of Folk's "Dear God" to create "Dear God 2.0." This, of course, wasn't the first time the Legendary had done something like this. I'm sure we all remember the beyond-catchy "The Seed 2.0" that essentially remixed Cody ChesnuTT's "The Seed."

Well, for How I Got Over's latest leak, Black Thought and his band tackle John Legend's "Again" for "Doin It Again." And, no surprises here, it's a killer. Legend's vocals sound perfectly pained behind the crisp instrumentation and Thought's fiery rhymes, the latter of which feature bars like "I'm like Martin Luther King, you like Rodney." That's cold, BT.

I can't wait to hear how this fits into the rest of How I Got Over, which is due out June 22. You can stream "Doin It Again" either below or over at OkayPlayer.

That's exactly how I feel. And, apparently, these verses are from Black Thought's "freestyle" in that BET cypher. Whatever, I'm glad these bars are being used beyond that.

That BET cipher was ILL. I kept playing the video for my boys on some "I swear Eminem's still got it!" lol. Kinda wish this song was longer than like 2 minutes tho. I get the impression the album's gonna be like half an hour long.

Yeah Em's verse on that cipher was insanity...

June 22nd really can't come fast enough.
