Hot damn, talk about a Roots overload today, eh? First it was the leaking of the fantastic "Right On" followed by a remix of "The Fire," with the former being quite possibly one of the best songs of the year. Now we get the visuals for the Monsters of Folk-sampling "Dear God 2.0," which is the second single from the Roots' forthcoming How I Got Over.
The Legendary linked up with director Jason Goldwatch, whose vision here suits the socially conscious, life-questioning lyrics within the track. It makes for one of the more compelling hip-hop videos seen so far this year, even if it will admittedly make you pretty damn depressed. Still, it's great to see this track get the video it deserves. It's also nice to see Jim James, who provides the hook, make a cameo.
How I Got Over is due out tomorrow and available on iTunes now.
