When you're not busy previewing the new album from The Roots on their MySpace page -- or listening to a leak, you deviants -- here's a little something to hold you over until How I Got Over drops on Tuesday. For last night's musical guest portion of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, his house band tackled one of its new LP's singles in the Monsters of Folk-sampling "Dear God 2.0." And while I'm sure the Legendary could have figured out a way to perform it by themselves, the Philly group pulled out all the stops. With a full strings section behind them, The Roots teamed up with Jim James, of Monsters of Folk, to provide the hook and cooing vocals throughout "Dear God 2.0." It builds into a moving performance that makes waiting until next Tuesday that much more difficult.
How I Got Over is due out June 22.
