After bassist Mattie Safer left the band, all bets were off about how The Rapture were going so sound now. Why though? They sound exactly the same: Here they are doing an ass-jiggling new song at Union Pool last week that I'm sure will absolutely be perfect for a roller-rink compilation once it comes out. The song doesn't have an official title--this is the first time it's been performed--but I'm tempted to call it "Sail Away," since that's about the extent of the vocals here. But Styx would probably be so pissed. And maybe Christopher Cross too. At any rate, new Rapture jam ready for new Rapture album which will come sometime before The Rapture (reports say the end of this year, potentially). [Stereogum]
