“The Rains of Castamere”

Though there is no word on a new album from The National, the band has been working on plenty of projects as of late. Over the summer, the quintet contributed to the Portal 2  soundtrack, and yesterday news broke that Matt Berninger and Aaron and Bryce Dessner would narrate and score, respectively, a new iPad story app. The latest news? The Brooklyn-based five-piece makes an appearance on The Game of Thrones soundtrack with a song entitled “The Rains of Castamere.”

With all of this work on videogames, storybook apps and fantasy television shows, I think it’s safe to say The National is flexing its nerd muscle, which is not a bad thing. Listen to “The Rains of Castamere” below.
