Remember when Jack White was reticent to perform with anyone other than his faux-sister Meg? Well last night on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” he performed with his brethren The Raconteurs and a robust horn section for a take on Consolers of the Lonely’s “Many Shades of Black,” and a fiddler for “Old Enough.” The songs (especially “Many Shades of Black”) sound less-cliched when removed from the bloat that surrounds them on the album.
