We've raised the rafters on The Poison Arrows plenty here at Prefix in recent months, and we only wish more music geeks would hear their debut LP First Class, and Forever. We had some confusion involving exclusivity with the Poison Arrows' PR rep when we posted "Total Beverage" back in April, and this week, we were given the rights to premiere the second song off First Class, and Forever, "Peruvian Mountain Fight."
One of the more accessible tracks on First Class, and Forever, "Peruvian Mountain Fight" features the most prominent use of Sinkovich's guitar playing. It's probably the best summary of the Poison Arrows' aesthetic on the album: take a simple rock guitar line, throw in a few variations, add killer bass and drum playing, and make a song out of it. Is also as high-energy as Sinkovich's singing gets, with lyrics that cryptically refer to confused memories, broken political promises, and Denver, Colorado.
There's little more I can say about First Class, and Forever without repeating myself. Here's the rube: if you're a music nerd who likes smart rock 'n' roll that doesn't cater to trends, this album is essential.
