Between their videos and actual music, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart may be one of the most feel-good bands of the past few years. The clip for "Say No To Love" only continues their streak, and at its core, is a story about priorities. In the video, keyboardist/singer Peggy Wang says no to band practice, instead spending her time hanging out in parks, eating a ton of snacks and driving around aimlessly. Meanwhile, the rest of the band jams out in a musty attic, and later out in a field. By the time Wang actually shows up to practice, the dudes in the band have their own priorities. Of course, they include ice cream sandwiches and petting a dog. Directed by Mixtape Club, the video also features a great deal of hand-drawn visual effects, which amplifies the smiley feel of the clip.
The "Say No To Love" single is now available via Slumberland.
I found the "Higher Than The Stars" video sorta sickening--and this is coming from someone who's listened The Pains of Being Pure at Heart album way more times than is healthy. This one, though, I like. Been listening to this song every single summer morning...it's a great tune to start the day to.
