The National: "Think You Can Wait"
Between two most recent albums, Boxer and High Violet, The National stayed pretty quiet in terms of recorded output. Maybe it's because of High Violet's subsequent success, but the band has decided to stay active during this post-album cycle, dropping tracks like "You Were a Kindness" and "Wake Up Your Saints" as part of Violet's expanded edition. Add "Think You Can Wait" to that quality list. The track is for the soundtrack of the Fox Searchlight film Win Win starring Paul Giamatti, which looks from the preview like the kind of movie that would have a National song in it. "Think" drifts achingly along a slow, subterranean piano riff while Matt Berninger sings about dragging the devil down with him as the rest of the band ratchets up the emotional intensity with each passing moment.
