The first single from The Knux, “Cappuccino,” found the New Orleans brothers as the more mainstream version of the Cool Kids—their apparel and their beats had them poised as Mikey and Chuck’s clearest rivals in breaking through to the Top 40.
The Knux’s second single, “Bang Bang,” from their upcoming album Remind Me in 3 Days, finds them as OutKast-lite: a greaser video accompanied by a guitar and bass heavy beat that will immediately remind you of many songs off of The Love Below, Idlewild, and Stankonia.
Now, that doesn’t make The Knux terrible-- “Bang Bang” is still a decent enough track, and its not like a whole lot of MC’s are out there doing OutKast tributes. But The Knux are still too weird to be Top 40 stars, and not unique enough (or good enough pastiche artists) to be succeed off the charts in the indie realm.
I guess that will sort itself out when Remind Me in 3 Days comes out. It’s slated for an October 28 release via Interscope. [Nahright]

so retro and very homoerotic
