Among today's new iTunes releases is a Frank Sinatra covers project titled His Way, Our Way, which finds bands like the Kooks, a Fine Frenzy, John Rich, and The Kills covering some of Sinatra's biggest hits. The Kills are a weird addition to the AOR and country-leanings of most of the other involved bands, but their somber work on "Willow Weep for Me" proves that they were a good choice--Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart duet wonderfully on the song, which is backed only by acoustic guitar. I was half expecting a bombed-out drum track to kick in at some point, but The Kills kept it simple. [Pitchfork]
I'm surprised they chose to cover Sinatra, but I don't hate it.
