The Killers

Spaceman (Video)

Average Rating: 1.00

I'm sure the video for The Killers' "Spaceman" is supposed to be some meditation on fame (or space, or something) but I can't help but giggling uncontrollably at frontman Brandon Flowers' patently ridiculous shoulder pads. Seriously, those things look they were taken from a costume for a stage production of Mad Max. What's with the feathers? Do they facilitate flying? Do they cool Flowers off? The possibilities are endless.

The song still smacks of scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas, and the synths seem vamped up solely to bring original fans back into the fold after Sam's Town.
"Spaceman" is on Day & Age, out now via Island.

true story: i was driving through europe with some german friends a month ago and that killers single came on. they all started laughing about the 1980s and the cheesiness of the music, and apparently were under the impression the song on the radio was actually 80s euro pop sensation, Modern Talking. I sadly had to admit that it was actually the very contemporary American outfit, the Killers. le sigh.
