The last time we wrote about the Killers's "A Dustland Fairytale" (they performed it on Letterman), fellow contributing editor Nick Neyland and I were told to drop dead. Unfortunately, I am still around to write about the new music video for the song, which, maybe, just maybe, matches the bombast and pompousness of the song. The clip is a 1950s narrative that is about greasers racing cars and getting in fist fights. Then at the end a greaser is old, and he sees his old girl, and he hugs her and it is sooo sad. The lyrics still don't make any sense at all, and don't really mean anything (they're co-written by the Black Eyed Peas*), but the video could have been worse. It could have been like "The World We Live In."
The Killers' Day & Age is out now. [Stereogum]
*- Not Really

<- Loves it! (The lambasting of the killers, that is, not the ghey video)
