The Killers

"A Dustland Fairytale" (Live on Letterman) (Video)

Average Rating: 10.00

Fresh from headlining the Coachella festival, The Killers showed up on the Late Show with David Letterman last night to promote their Day & Age album. Brandon Flowers’ bombastic vision is helped into life by a string section for this performance of “A Dustland Fairytale,” giving him a chance to show off his dance moves, which look like the actions of a man who is dying to rush to the bathroom.

But criticizing The Killers is like shooting fish in a barrel, so I’ll say this for them: they have great taste in collaborators. Despite their stodgy rock sound, they’ve managed to persuade the Pet Shop Boys and Lou Reed to contribute to their records, which is no mean feat.

Dear Nick:

I'm deeply sorry that you dont have a taste for the Killers. Your inmaturity and ignorance is received on the comments above. We regret that humans like you do not understand how to appreciated something as beautiful as a Dustland Fairy Tale.

That late night performance has to be one of the greatest TV show performances ever. I mean come on, a 20-piece orchestra, and a harp! The Killers are striving for greatness, and will soon be the greatest rock band in the history of music. To think, they are still so young but are so great. I'm absolutely loving it. Hey Nick & Andross, I seriously want to know. Do you really believe that crap you write? What a joke. Can you both die already? Please?

May 13, 2009 at 4:09 p.m.

Is that a threat? You want me to die because I don't like a band you do? Seems like overkill yo.

Seriously, name one band that goes to this effort, especially for a late night show? This is such a great song and performance equally. The Killers are doing something special here, and you non-objective "writers" need to get over yourself and learn how to appreciate really great music. No, Brandon Flowers is not your typical rock star. But so what! I mean come on, why are you so infatuated with the lead singer being this bad ass rock star?! Get over yourself, and become a real writer that is objective and knows how to appreciate music, because this is what music is!!!

Yeah, I used my real name because I'm proud to be a Killers fan. That performance was brilliant, the use of the string orchestra was beautiful and made a great song even better. Brandon's stage moves may not be the best, but he's a song writer and a true musician, not a dancer. The fakers need good dance moves on stage, artists move you with their words and inspire thought and emotion.
