Today must be a day for first singles from anticipated May albums to be released: Pitchfork has a stream of the Hold Steady's "Hurricane J," the first single from the Hold Steady's upcoming Heaven is Whenever. The J is clearly in reference to a girl named Jessie, who Finn decides is too good for him (because she's a pretty good waitress). Basically, it's an atypical Hold Steady anthem with character to spare. Welcome back, dudes.
Heaven is Whenever is due out on May 4.
