The first video of this Hold Steady performance for Pitchfork TV got us thinking about what exactly happened to the Hold Steady. I mean seriously. Band of Horses have a higher profile, and those dudes suck now. Then again, The Hold Steady aren't that great now, either, but they can still bring it with their new stuff, particularly"Hurricane J," which is above in live form for you. Craig Finn can still do that barroom preacher thing pretty awesomely, and the "ohh ohhs" here probably sound fantastic after a few beers. Maybe it's just that these dudes are more professional now. Because they seem pretty put together here.
