The Hold Steady: "Barely Breathing"
Another day, another new track from the Hold Steady's upcoming new album Heaven is Whenever. We've already heard "Hurricane J,""Rock Problems," and "The Weekenders." Now Craig Finn and company bring us "Barely Breathing." Where much of what we've heard before was much more simple and stripped down, "Barely Breathing" is comparatively lush, with keys and a clarinet solo (!) lending some depth to Finn's bemoaning of violent shows and Ray Cappo anecdotes. Probably the best track I've heard from the new album yet. Stream it here. [Stereogum]
