After releasing the track to the web in early December, Mark Lanegan and his band are back with some fittingly chilling visuals for “The Gravedigger’s Song.” The “gravel-voiced torch song,” as described by fellow editor Andrew Winistorfer, is the perfect fit for director Alistair Legrand for The Masses’ vision.
Between Lanegan’s growls, Legrand weaves together imagery plucked from a horror/suspense film. You know, the kind that like to freak you out by putting creepy little kids in an old house. And teeth on a rose. Yeah, bye bye sleep. Anyway, you can watch the video below. The track stems from Lanegan’s new album, Blues Funeral, which is due out on Feb. 6 via 4AD.
