R&B polymath Ryan Leslie hit a rough patch when he lost the bulk of what was to be his third album on a laptop that turned up missing during a trip to Europe. He seems nonplussed by the misfortune on his latest single “The Glory,” a terse slab of rockist braggadocio that rises to a raucous crescendo complete with a backing choir. I’m still not fully sold on Leslie the rapper, but this track makes up in style and swagger what it lacks in lyrical panache, I think. It is pretty impressive that the guy produces, writes, sings, and raps, though. And the song’s black and white performance video is pretty badass. Les Is More is out July 4.
