“The Ghost Who Walks” (Live On Letterman) (Video)

Jack White’s better half, Karen Elson, made the leap to the late night television schedule for the first time last night (Sept. 2) with this performance of “The Ghost Who Walks” from her album of the same name. Dressed in period outfits and engendering a distinctly retro feel, you could be forgiven for thinking you’d tuned into an episode of HBO’s much missed Deadwood when watching this performance.

Elson’s music encompasses a number of different styles, at times resembling the olde worlde rock & roll of the Band, at others veering closer to country and folk. It’s somewhat reminiscent of Mazzy Star at their She Hangs Brightly peak, which is some impressive company to keep.
