The Flaming Lips first teamed up with MGMT on their downcast Embryonic album, but the pair met for a rather more celebratory affair at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis this past weekend. Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden joined Wayne Coyne and his band on stage for this version of MGMT’s “Kids,” which actually works really well in this stripped-down incarnation. If you squint really hard you’ll be able to see a bunch of Dorothys from The Wizard of Oz standing stage left.
