The latest in what seems like an endless run of compilation albums this year is Warner Brothers' Covered: A Revolution in Sound that finds current WB artists taking on the work of classic WB artists. The most tantalizing of the 11 covers on Covered is The Flaming Lips (with an assist from Wayne Coyne's nephew's band Stardeath and White Dwarfs) doing Madonna's "Borderline." The album is only currently available through Amazon (it's out in April elsewhere), and the site has the premiere of The Flaming Lips doing "Borderline" in video form.
The Lips' version is predictably sweet, percussive, and psychedelic, as the Lips and company turn the song away from it's 80s pop affectations towards their own musical output. Somehow, The Flaming Lips were able to take a song by Madonna and make it sound like it's been a Lips song all along.

I actually really like this version.
this is the best song you will listen to on the album! They tear it up and make it their own. Buy the album, you won't be disappointed
