Omaha dance-punkers The Faint are streaming a new track, “The Geeks Were Right,” from their upcoming self-released album (via their blank.wav imprint) Fasciinatiion. The track finds the band returning to their old(ish) new-new wave roots after brief forays into goth-tinged dance music on their last album (2004’s Wet from Birth).

The track’s general theme (that robots will kill us all, as the geeks predicted) matches the sauntering syncopation of the music, but the track just feels like it’s missing something (perhaps a solid bassline?)

Fasciinatiion is out on August 5, 2008.
