Swampy British rockers The Duke Spirit have been on this side of the Atlantic recently, where they’ve been promoting last year’s The Kusama EP and gearing up for the release of their third album, Bruiser. The band showed up in the Rolling Stone offices as part of this promotional jaunt, performing this stripped down version of “Sweet Bitter Sweet,” which has a huge early PJ Harvey influence at work. Liela Moss sounds in great voice here, allowing her vocal chords to crack and soar in all the right places, and the backing is suitably subdued in order to let her demonstrate her range.
