Along with the Brian Jonestown Massacre, the other band documented in Ondi Timoner’s Dig!, The Dandy Warhols have become increasingly obsessed with making albums full of songs that brush with being abrasive, in an effort to remain outside of the constructs of commerciality both groups dabbled in the late ‘90s. “Mission Control,” from the Dandy’s new LP, …Earth to Dandy Warhols…, is one of the worst singles the band has ever put out, as lead singer Courtney Taylor continues to mask his voice in effects boxes (his voice was often the only non-grating thing about the band’s old albums), and the band chug-a-chug-a into obscurity.
