The Cure: Underneath the Stars (Live)

For those who have been lucky enough to catch The Cure on their current tour, (like our photographer Chris Owyoung) you have probably noticed that the band have been opening with a new song. The song, “Underneath the Stars,” was filmed by the Fuse channel for their “Rocks the Garden” show, and is up now on YouTube.
The song evokes everything that made The Cure great in the first place; the soaring reverb-laden guitar lines, the machine-like precision of the drums, and Robert Smith’s warbly vocals. The song should make a great centerpiece to the band’s upcoming album due out on September 13. [Stereogum]
