The Cure

Freakshow (Live on Kimmel) (Video)

On tape, The Cure's "Freakshow" is something of an awkward mess: Robert Smith comes in and out of pocket, and the music seems to be going off a cliff at high speeds. Live, it's pretty much exactly the same, as proven here by the band's performance on Jimy Kimmel last night. Luckily, the annoying Blue Oyster Cult-esque cowbell from the studio version is negligable here, and Smith's vocals aren't as grating.

I'm really starting to pity Robert Smith: At what point does he abandon the make-up? Would his fans be pissed if he showed up dressed in a suit and tie with a sensible haircut for a 40-year old? I wonder. [Stereogum]

But don't you think he should let his look evolve a little?

Yeah, it's almost getting depressingly sad.
