The Cool Kids: 'Tacklebox' (Mixtape)

Well, this is a nice little surprise from Midwestern hip-hop duo the Cool Kids. We last heard from them in 2009, when Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish dropped the solid, though more-of-the-same mixtape Gone Fishin'. That's not a knock, either. These two guys have clearly honed their craft. If you're looking for 808s-based bangers filled with references to fly gear, weed, and partying, The Cool Kids always deliver. Personally, I'm hoping they are branching out stylistically on their latest mixtape, Tacklebox. But  I know I'll still be listening either way. Inglish handles most of the production, except for a few beats from Ski Beats, the Productionix and Old Young. The features are kept to a minimum, too, with Tennille, Boldy James and Like, of Pac Div, as the only guests.
