The Black Keys have already released one set of visuals for “Gold On The Ceiling” from El Camino. Simpler and saner than their previous videos, it focussed on the Keys playing live. Evidently that video was only a stopgap until the band could come up with something weirder to accompany the song. Last night they proved that they had.
Harmony Korine, the director behind sublimely strange films including Kids, Gummo and Trash Humpers, takes charge of the new video. Delivering his trademark dose of bizarre, Korrine has the Keys's Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney dress up as “Baby Twinz” with large prosthetic models of themselves strapped to their backs. Looped footage then shows the creepy foursome performing simple, repetitive actions out in the video’s Nashville setting. From one set of twins to another, the video closes with footage of these guys eating gold cake. Needless to say, it’s all a bit confusing.
