The Bird and The Bee: "Private Eyes" (Hall And Oates Cover)

The Bird and the Bee are releasing a Hall and Oates cover album because apparently '80s pop revivalism hasn't gone far enough. You Ain't No Picasso has a stream of the group's reworking of "Private Eyes," Hall and Oates' ode to schizophrenic paranoia of men in overcoats following you. Given that it's by the Bird and the Bee, the added preciousness comes off as a given rather than surprise, but going crazier with the synths was something I didn't see coming. "Private Eyes" in its original form is all synths, so this just takes it up a level in videogame-ready quality. Listen here.

Interpreting the Masters Volume One: A Tribute to Daryl Hall and John Oates is due out on March 23.
