Just when you thought you'd had enough of indie bands covering Beyonce, UK up-and-comers The Big Pink come along with this cover of "Sweet Dreams" to confirm that you've had enough of indie bands covering Beyonce. To be fair to Big Pink, this cover doesn't seem like some offensive ironic crap; the band's far too melodramatic for that kind of thing. The problem with this cover is that it's too faithful to the original, without maintaining any of Beyonce's sass. This should go without saying, but if bands want to do Beyonce, they need to do it big. [Stereogum]

No way. This is awesome. Better than the other indie covers of pop songs that I've heard recently. I don't see how this is faithful to the original at all. It sounds nothing like the original which is a great song too.

without that diva feeling that beyonce brings, i don't know that i'd use this one to BRING THE PARTY. i don't know that i would even listen to it. i'm impressed with the freshness, though. and yeah, with the lack of irony.
